About Gordon D. Larson

Gordon D. Larson is a back-to-square-one follower of Christ. Retired for the past ten years, he's had time to pursue reading, research, and writing. Two short stories and a poem won inclusion in a statewide Wisconsin publication. Gordon grew up in Rockford, Illinois. His two trilogies begin in Ye City through which the Rockfordia River flows. He's from a big, single-parent, poor family. Eleven scallywags (excluding the lone sister). Bein' poor didn't matter until junior high. Then it did matter. Y'all know what I mean. In times long ago and far away Gordon served in full time church ministry. He produced his own daily radio program, FastBreak, for several years. He wrote a Sunday newspaper clergy column, too. Gordon has always loved sports, ergo the many references to sports he was particularly decent at. In writing, sports is a vehicle for emphasizing relationships, preparation, and the love of competition. The Rockford Public Library is exactly as described in Three Kisses. It and other iconic buildings in downtown Rockford no longer exist. Changes came to the YMCA along the river and even to the Whitman Street bridge. Gordon and Ike Carlson's neighborhoods are pretty similar. If you've ever heard of spasmodic dysphonia you know that it's inexplicably caused but results in sounding hoarse when speaking. And singing ain't possible. Super-super sad thing the past fifteen years. Singing from the heart con-tinues.

"The older I get, the better lookin' I was."
