'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far..."

I was "Gordy" for the first 25 years of life. I'm the 6th of 11 kids born in Rockford, Illinois. Though we were a welfare family, by the time I was in high school I had observed enough of the lives of wealthy classmates that I "the poorest person with Christ is richer than the richest person without Christ". That became the guiding light of my lifetime.

Rockford, Illinois did have serious racial issues in the Sixties. I've been gone since 1970. I only hear that it hasn't improved as much as it should. Book One of "Three Kisses" directly confronts that by taking us into Ike Carlson's "what if?" story.

French. I hope you won't be offput by the use of the words and phrases in the book. I DID discover the series of books by French authors that introcuded French into the text and the translation at the footnote. So, bon appetit! Bon fortune! Between Woodstock and Kent State University, revolutions rocked my world, including Vietnam, campus protests, drugs, Beatlemania/rock-mania, and the sexual permissivism of Free Love. I felt the tug of rebellion, but nowhere near the hippie culture. Not much went well for those who drank deeply from the broken cisterns.

Roles

Pastor

I began youth ministry part-time during Graduate School in Minneapolis. Full-time since 1978. Assistant pastor. Youth pastor. Choir director. And, yes, if the custodian ain't around, pastor unclogs toilets, too.

Author

During my pastorate years, children were talented vocalists and guitarists. I began to write songs, hymns, and poems. I began writing novels at a late stage in life when I had extensive time after early "retirement" (before official retirement). Books don't roll easily from pen to paper. Following the advice of some writers, I've always done first drafts long-hand.
